Training Modules

During 2005 and 2006, IST-Africa will adapt relevant European research results to regional requirements and develop 10 training modules in the areas of

- eGovernment (COMNET-IT)

- eBusiness (UTICT)

- eHealth (CSIR)

- eLearning (COSTECH)

- ICT for Agriculture (COSTECH)

- ICT Sensitization (COSTECH)

While individual partners will have responsibility for developing specific modules, they will be supported by the other partners, particularly in relation to the creation and provision of relevant European case studies (IIMC, COMNET-IT) and national case studies for Mozambique (UTICT), South Africa (CSIR) and Tanzania (COSTECH), illustrating the issues being addressed in those modules.

Using a structured, "update and replace" modular design and a common methodology across all IST-Africa training materials makes it easier to ensure common quality standards, as well as ensuring that individual modules can be easily maintained and updated. Adaptation to national or regional requirements may involve facilitating the replacement of individual case studies with more up to date examples (to ensure the training modules can continue to be used over time), or case studies of greater sectoral or national interest to the target audience in different countries. The goal is to facilitate cooperation in relation to IST exploitation across Africa.

The materials for individual training modules will be disseminated through:

- IST-Africa Portal, national/regional workshops & annual IST-Africa Community Conferences;

- National ICT/HR development agencies in SADC Member States and other ACP countries;

- COMNET-IT's eGovernment partnership with CESPAM and the Commonwealth Secretariat.
