Outputs from EU-Africa Science & Technology Week, Addis Ababa, 24 - 28 June 2013

In the context of the Africa-EU Joint Strategy and the 8th Africa-EU Strategic Partnership, the European Commission, EU Delegation to the AU and African Union Commission coordinated a number of meetings focused on Science and Technology in Addis Ababa from 24 - 28 June 2013.

A series of workshops organised by CAAST-Net Plus and hosted by the Department of Human Resources, Science and Technology, African Union Commission took place including:

- CAAST-Net+ workshop on EU-Africa bi-regional research cooperation on climate change with impacts on water and food security, 25-26 June. Click here to download the workshop report

- CAAST-Net+ workshop on Research Infrastructures for EU-Africa Cooperation , 26-27 June. Presentations included Recommendations from PAERPIP by Daan du Toit, South African Department of Science and Technology's Representative to the European Union; Insights into African Union Strategic STI Plan 2014 - 2017 by Mahama Ouedraogo, the Head of S&T Division at HRST AUC and the Role of Research Infrastructures in Horizon 2020 by Paul Tuinder, Research Infrastructures Unit, European Commission. Other presentations provided insights into approaches on developing and accessing RI with thematic focuses on Health, Food Security, Water, IT and Space research. Other meetings included a workshop on Waste as a Resource was organised by the EC's DG Research & Innovation, a High Level Policy Dialogue meeting, organised by the European Commission and co-chaired by the current AMCOST Chair, Congo-Brazzaville and a Joint Expert Group meeting primarily focused on the Science component of the 8th EU-Africa Strategic Partnership.
