IST-Africa presented results during 13th International Conference of IFIP Working Group 9.4, 20 - 22 May 2015

IFIP Working Group 9.4 is focused on Social Implications of Computers in Developing Countries. The 2015 IFIP 9.4 Conference focused on Openness in ICT4D: Critical Reflections on Future Directions, took place in Negombo, Sri Lanka 20 - 22 May.

The conference programme addressed a range of issues including ICT4D research and practice, open innovation, health information system architectures, open government for public service delivery and the data revolution in International Development.

Keynote speakers included Dr Ineke Buskens, the research director of the GRACE Network (which is focused on gender research in Africa and the Middle East into ICTs for Empowerment) and Dr Niall Hayes, Director of the Centre for the Study of Technology and Organisation from Lancaster University.

Paul Cunningham, IIMC, shared insight into research outputs from IST-Africa, with a particular focus on sharing insight into collaborative open innovation activities and capacity in East Africa.
