On 05 July 2013 more than 180 middle to senior level government officials from eight African countries participated in a Graduation Ceremony in Nairobi to receive their Graduate Diploma in Leadership Development in ICT and the Knowledge Society from Dublin City University (Ireland) at the completion of the ALICT Leadership Programme.
African Leadership in ICT (ALICT) is one of the 8th Africa-EU Strategic Partnership Flagship projects, which is funded by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland and implemented by GESCI (Global eSchools and Communities Initiative). It is a seven month professional blended learning programme accredited by Dublin City University (DCU) and delivered by GESCI in South Africa, Zambia, Tanzania, Mauritius, Malawi, Botswana, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Namibia and Mozambique. It focuses on futures thinking and leadership and incorporates modules addressing ICT, Science, Technology and Innovation and Education.
The School of Education Studies in Dublin City University partnered with GESCI to provide accreditation of the blended learning programme and graduates can now continue to take a Masters in Education and Training Management at DCU.
