Hosted by the Government of South Africa through the Department of Science and Innovation and Supported by the European Commission (EC) and African Union Commission (AUC), IST-Africa 2021 (10 - 14 May) was the sixteenth in an annual series of Ministerial Level Technology Research and Innovation Conferences.
IST-Africa took place for the second time as a very successful virtual conference during the COVID-19 pandemic. IST-Africa 2021 was very well attended with over 400 participants from 36 counties around the world. Feedback received from speakers and delegates was very positive. Sessions were interactive in nature with a good level of knowledge sharing.

The IST-Africa 2021 Final Programme incorporated 30 thematically focused sessions featuring over 120 presenters from the public, private, education, research and societal organisations from 25 countries. Thematic areas include: CyberSecurity, Collaborative Open Innovation and ICT-enabled Entrepreneurship, Global Development, Content Technologies, eHealth, eGovernment, Societal Implications of Technology, Next Generation Computing, eInfrastructure, ICT Supporting Power Delivery, Technology-enhanced Learning, eAgriculture and Environmental Sustainability.

IST-Africa 2022 will take place in Pretoria, South Africa in May 2022 hosted by the Government of South Africa through the Department of Science and Innovation.
