IST-Africa 2017, Windhoek, Namibia, 31 May - 02 June 2017 - Call for Papers Extended deadline 23 December

Hosted by the Government of Namibia through the National Commission on Research, Science and Technology, and Supported by the European Commission and African Union Commission, IST-Africa 2017 (31 May - 02 June, Windhoek, Namibia) is the twelfth in an annual series of Ministerial level Technology Research Conferences. The Workshop on Open Innovation, ICT and Social Entrepreneurship in Africa will take place as a pre-conference event on 30 May.

Extended deadline to 23 December

We would like to thank those who have submitted papers to date. Based on the number of requests for extensions to date we are providing a general extension until 23 December to facilitate authors to complete and submit full papers ready for review. Please circulate information about the extended deadline to your network.

IST-Africa Focus and Call for Papers

IST-Africa provides a platform in Africa to strengthen ICT-enabled Innovation, Science and Technology related policy dialogues within Africa and between Africa and Europe, Global Development, Research and Innovation Cooperation and Community Building. It also provides an opportunity to identify potential partners for future research cooperation under Horizon 2020. IST-Africa is a unique community that brings together cross-disciplinary stakeholders from public, private, education and research, societal sector with end user communities focused on ICT and STI Research and Innovation.

Submission of new papers

Interested presenters are encouraged to prepare an 8 page paper (4,000 - 5,000) words following the IST-Africa paper guidelines and paper template for submission online by the extended deadline of 23 December.

All papers are double blind peer reviewed so please ensure that the Word document uploaded (.doc) does not include author details. Author and co-author details should be included in the online submission form.

Resubmission of draft Papers up to extended deadline of 23 December

If you have already submitted a draft paper and wish to provide an updated paper for review by 23 December, please log into www.IST-Africa.org/Conference2017

You will then be redirected to your My Page where you will see the paper record

Click on RESUBMIT link and upload the new version of the paper to be reviewed

We would appreciate if authors do not set up multiple records for the same paper.

We would appreciate if you circulate this Call for Papers to relevant mailing lists, colleagues and publish the links on relevant sites to raise awareness of this opportunity.

General Information

Each presenter will present one paper in the Programme. If you wish to submit multiple papers now on behalf of co-authors, subject to acceptance it will be necessary to move each accepted paper to a unique presenter, who will complete registration and physically present the results during the event.

It is necessary for papers accepted for inclusion in the proceedings to be physically presented during the event. Full Papers accepted for the Conference Proceedings and presented during the conference will be submitted for publication to IEEE Xplore as an additional dissemination channel.

Authors will receive feedback by 13 February. Accepted authors will then be invited to submit a final paper taking account of feedback provided for inclusion in the conference proceedings and to complete registration by 10 March.
