Abstract

The Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) has created pressing demands for collaboration between industry and academia to prepare graduates for technology-driven careers. This systematic literature review investigates current collaboration models, with particular focus on computing education in higher education contexts. A systematic search of two databases was conducted resulting in twenty-one (21) papers meeting the inclusion criteria. The review identifies six collaboration models: curriculum co-development, work-integrated learning, virtual learning environments, innovation accelerators, technology transfer, and human resource exchange. The study contributes a classification of collaboration models and strategies, providing the theoretical foundation for future empirical investigation of industry-academia collaboration in integrating emerging technologies in computing education, with relevance to the South African context.
