The advent of quantum computers poses a fundamental threat to current cryptography-based applications. As relevant guidelines are setting the deadlines for this migration just a few years in the future, it is due time to plan for effective mitigation and migration plans. The migration of Public Key Infrastructures poses specific challenges, as these systems are complex, serving millions of users and fundamental in providing cybersecurity. In this paper, we analyse how an innovative PKI service delivery model, called "PKI as a Service" (PKIaaS) could be well suited for successfully achieving a secure and effective post-quantum migration. Also, we investigate the performances of some relevant Post Quantum Cryptography (PQC) algorithms when implemented in a PKI setting. We found that PQ-signatures and PQ-TLS are usable even with today's hardware, and via software implementations. This paper includes results for the first presentation opportunity at IST-Africa 2026.
