Pitching a lesson on Responsible Computing (RC) can be challenging to lecturers who are new to the idea of RC. Learners too may experience difficulties in identifying how computing technology can negatively impact society. The aim of this project was to design and use animations to reinforce teaching of responsible computing at undergraduate level. The project sought to: a) develop animation scripts with responsible computing themes; b) create animations based on the scripts; and c) evaluate the success of using the developed animations in teaching responsible computing. We used project-based method utilizing the ADDIE instructional design model with Blender as the key technology of developing animations. The overall impact of the animations in eliciting learning of RC was rated highly with 96.7% of respondents agreeing or strongly agreeing that the animations impacted them positively in learning responsible computing. We recommend this model in teaching of responsible computing.
