Half Day & Full Day Tours

Delegates can book social tours with Dana Tours before and after the Conference. Partners who are travelling with delegates can also avail of these tours during the Conference. Half day City Tour

Experience the sights in Maputo during your stay. This half-day tour includes stops at the Museum of Natural History, Railway Station, Fortress and Central Market. Drive through the downtown 'baixa' and uptown past Mandela's House, the famous Polana Hotel to name a few.

Tour lasts approximately 3,5 hours and costs $35 per person, which includes a pick up and delivery back to your hotel. This tour is available each day, subject to securing the minimum number of two people for the tour, both before, during and after the Conference.

Inhaca Day Tour

Inhaca Island is a small-inhabited island, lying just 37 km off the coast of Maputo. It is renowned for its coral reefs and snorkeling. The ferry to Inhaca is available each day except Monday and Wednesday. This allows Conference delegates to experience Inhaca either before or after the Conference and Partners to go on Thursday or Friday. There is no minimum requirement for this tour. Please note that the prices quotes below are from the harbour so it is necessary for delegates to get a taxi to and from the harbour.

There are a number of different options available in relation to a day trip to Inhaca depending on your interests.

Inhaca Day Trip, Portuguese Island, Lunch and Snorkelling

This day trip leaves the fishing harbour at 07:30/08:00. Travel 90 minutes to Portuguese Island by ferry for swimming followed by snorkeling at Coral Gardens. Then off to Inhaca for seafood lunch at a traditional restaurant. Return from Inhaca is at 15:00/15:30 arriving in Maputo at about 17:00. Daily departures except Monday and Wednesday. Pack in sun cream, towel and a hat. Please wear shorts and sandals to wade through water at the island.

This day trip including lunch costs $100 per person.

Inhaca Day Trip, Portuguese Island and Lunch by boat

Leaves the fishing harbour at 07:30/08:00. Travel 90 minutes to Portuguese Island for swimming. Then off to Inhaca for seafood lunch at a traditional restaurant. Return from Inhaca is at 15:00/15:30 arriving in Maputo at about 17:00. Daily departures except Monday and Wednesday. Remember to pack in sun cream, towel and a hat. Please wear shorts and sandals to wade through water at the island.

This day trip including lunch costs $80 per person.

Inhaca Island and Portuguese Island by boat

Depart from the Porto de Pesca at 07:30 and stop at Portuguese Island to swim and relax on the beach. Leave for Inhaca around noon. The boat departs Inhaca at 15:30 and will arrive in Maputo around 17:00. Daily departures except Mon. and Wed. Pack in sun cream, towel and a hat. Please wear shorts and sandals to wade through water at the island.

This day trip, which does not include lunch, costs $60 per person.

Inhaca Day Trip by boat

Leaves fishing harbour at 07:00/07:30. The trip takes about 90 minutes. Return from Inhaca is at 15:00/15:30, arriving in Maputo around 17:00. Boat runs daily except Mon. and Wed. Pack in sun cream, towel and a hat. Please wear shorts and sandals to wade through water at the island.

This day trip, which does not include lunch, costs $50 per person.

Day trip to Marracuene by road

Marracuene is a town located 30 km north of Maputo on the Incomati River. It is a popular tourist destination due to its 21-mile beach on the Indian Ocean.

The driver will fetch you from your hotel in a 4 x 4 vehicle at 07:45 and you will head north to Marracuene Lodge. Take a boat across the Incomati River to swim in the Indian Ocean. Enjoy bird watching in the estuary and have lunch on the river deck. Return to Maputo at 17:00.

This day trip costs $130 per person, which includes transport and lunch. This tour is available each day, before, during and after the Conference, based on the minimum requirement of two people participating.

Elephant Reserve Day Trip

The Maputo Elephant Reserve is situated 79 km south of Maputo in the southernmost province of Mozambique. It is part of the Lubombo Transfrontier Conservation Area, an international conservation project joining areas of Mozambique, South Africa, and Swaziland.

Depart Maputo at 05:45 from your hotel. Cross with the ferry to Catembe. Stop at the Hindu Temple at Salamanga. There is prolific bird life and hopefully you will see elephants, crocodiles, hippos, reed buck and Samango monkeys. Return to Maputo at 18:00.

This trip costs $130 per person, which includes transport, breakfast en route and lunch in the Reserve. This trip is available each day, before, during and after the Conference, based on the minimum requirement of three people participating.
