Kwame Nkrumah 2014 Scientific Awards - Deadline for Regional Award for Women, 30 October 2014, Continental Award, 15 November

The African Union Kwame Nkrumah 2014 Scientific Awards were launched on 12 June. Prizes will be awarded to African Scientists in the areas of Life and Earth Science and Basic Science, Technology and Innovation.

The Awards are focused on recognising outstanding African scientists, promoting scientific development and raising the profile of Science, Technology and Innovation in African Union Member States and Regional Economic Communities.

The Awards will be given to African Scientists (nationals of AU Member States), who have remarkable achievements, demonstrated by the number of publications, number of research graduate students, applicability of the scientific work to Africa's challenges and its patentability.

The Regional Award for Women Scientists will be launched in each region on 09 September, with a closing date of 30 October. Applicants should have published at least ten SCI publications. Two winners per regional will be selected from two different African Union Member States within the region and will be awarded US$20,000.

The deadline for the Continental Scientific Award is 15 November. Applicants should have published at least twenty SCI publications.
