MLab East Africa Training Application Deadline 23 January 2013

M:Lab East Africa was formally launched in June 2011 as a mobile technology incubation centre in Nairobi with support from InfoDev.

MLab incubates start-up companies and also runs mobile application development training courses. The training courses run from 09:30 - 15:30 each day over a four month period of time.

Applications for the Training course from Feb - May 2013 should be submitted online by 23 January.

In total 25 students will be selected for the training which will take place at MLab's premises in Nairobi. The training room has computers and internet access. There is also a testing facility with access of mobile devices from different manufacturers for application testing and quality assurance.

The Training covers the following technologies: USSD, android, J2me, php, mysql, LWUIT, Mobile Web, IVR, User Experience Design, SMS, Systems Design. Business skills covered include the lean methodology, business model canvasses, monetization strategies for mobile innovation, customer development and user experience design.

The training course is subvented by InfoDev so participants will pay a deposit of 10,000 KSH at the start of the course. Based on successful completion, 5,000 KSH may be refunded at the end of the course.
