ITU Workshop on ICT Competencies Development in the Telecommunication and Education Sectors in Africa, Bujumbura, Burundi, 14 - 18 May

The ITU regional workshop on ICT Competencies Development in the Telecommunication and Education Sectors in Africa was held In Bujumbura, Burundi from 14 -18 May 2012, hosted by the Ministère des Télécommunications, de l'Information, de la Communication et des Relations avec le Parlement of Burundi, in collaboration with the United Kingdom Telecommunications Academy (UKTA).

It was a follow-up of the regional symposium on developing efficient ICT Training capabilities in the telecommunication sector organized in Abidjan, Ivory Coast from 16 -18 November 2011.

The workshop focused on Role of academia in strengthening human capital in the telecommunication/ ICT and education sectors in Africa; Development of ICT competencies in the telecommunication/ICT and education sectors: development and learning; Policies and strategies for strengthening human capital in the telecommunication/ICT and education sectors; Developing mechanisms for cooperation and coordination between ICT human capital stakeholders in Africa and Future prospects for the development for the ICT in Africa.
