Third Africa Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation, 10 - 12 February, Cairo

The African Development Bank in cooperation with partner organisations (including Government of Egypt, the Government of South Korea, the Government of Japan, the African Union (AU), the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and others) are organising the Third Africa Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation in Hilton Heliopolis, Cairo, Egypt on 10 - 12 February 2018.

The Forum aims to accelerate investments in higher education, science and research to contribute to the knowledge economy that drives industrial revolution. Africa STI Forum is part of the implementation of the AfDB's Ten Year Strategy 2013-2022 and its Human Capital Strategy 2014-2018. It is aligned with the Agenda 2063 of the African Union (AU) and the AU Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation for Africa (STISA-2024).

The Forum aims to bring together Ministers, funding partners, regional experts, academia, private sector, civil society and African Diaspora in the field of STI.

Gift Kadzamira, National Commission for Science and Technology Malawi is presenting IST-Africa results during the European Union - Africa Research and Innovation Partnership: Policy Framework and Funding Instruments on 11 February. Other speakers included: Dr. Fadila Boughanemi, DG Research and Innovation, European Commission; Dr. Heba Gaber, DG Research and Innovation, European Commission; Dr. Tarek El Arabi, Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Egypt (LEAP-Agri) and Dr. Almamy Konte, Senior Expert, African Observatory for Science, Technology and Innovation (RINEA).
