Kenya secures Dutch funding to support ICT sector

The ICT Authority signed a three-year agreement with the Government of Netherlands on 03 February 2015 on behalf of the Ministry of ICT to support the ICT sector in Kenya.

This project is focused on building capacity and market penetration support in 33 ICT start-ups and SMEs to enhance export competitiveness in the IT and ITES Sector. It will provide training and advisory services related to export marketing and access to finance as well as facilitate business-to-business events in Europe and Africa between international buyers and Kenyan companies. The organisations to be supported will be selected based on the expressions of interest submitted by13 November 2014.

This three-year project ($1.2 million) is funded through the Netherlands Trust Fund phase III (NTF III) as an agreement between the Ministry of ICT Kenya, International Trade Centre and Dutch Centre for the Promotion of Imports from developing countries and implemented by Kenya Information Technology and Outsourcing Society and ICT Authority.

This fits in well with other capacity building activities being undertaken including SAP Certification and a memorandum of understanding signed with Oracle in January.
