While in Maputo delegates and accompanying persons should ensure they visit the Cathedral of Our Lady of Conception and City Hall located at the Praça da Independência; the Railway Station on the Praça dos Trabalhadores, which was built in 1910; the Statue commemorating Mozambican soldiers who fell in the First World War; the National Museum of Art; the Iron House designed by Gustave Eiffel; the Statue of Samora Machel, Mozambique's first President; the Botanical Gardens (Jardim Tunduru) behind the Statue of Samora Machel and Museu de História Natural (Natural History Museum) on the Praça da Travessia do Zambeze, which displays many of the animal species of Mozambique.
The IST-Africa Consortium are pleased to announce that a Networking Reception will be held in the IST-Africa 2007 Exhibition area in the Joaquim Chissano International Conference Centre, Maputo on Wednesday 09 May, from 18:30 to 20:00. This will allow all conference delegates and accompanying partners to network with other conference delegates, interact with Exhibitors and view technology demonstrations.
Delegates should indicate if they wish to participate in the Networking Reception as part of online registration.
A range of tours in and around Maputo have been organised, which can be booked by partners and delegates. Most of these tours are available each day subject to the minimum number of participants, and are available before, during and after the Conference to offer more flexibility.
